John Greenland is the founder of jGA Design, a full service Architecture and Interior Design firm headquartered in Tampa, FL. With over 20 years’ experience, John’s projects are as expansive and creative as his portfolio.  His work spans large scale commercial projects (restaurants, retail centers, office buildings, universities, hotel and resorts) to residential (multi-family buildings, both condominium and apartment complexes) to municipalities (police stations, schools and a flagship project – The ATLAS Building at the University of Colorado, Boulder) along with custom single family home designs & additions (Little Cottage on a Big Lake).  John’s success comes from listening to the client and their goals then creating a design from the client’s wish list that is beyond what they envisioned but also meets or exceeds building standards.

John’s start in this business came at an early age – as a precocious child, his passions were drawing and baseball.  After realizing one was easier to build a career from than the other, John graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado in Denver.  He stayed on in the beautiful Boulder area where he was fortunate enough to work on a project, The ATLAS Building, which would continue to inspire him to this day.  With relocation back to his home state of Florida, John’s projects continued in the commercial and residential sector where he utilized his attention to design and detail to ensure quality as well as creativity were a part of every project he oversaw.

In addition to the extensive Architecture and Design experience, John spent two years with the Building Department in Hillsborough County (Tampa, FL) as a Development Services Architect where he coordinated with architects, engineers, developers, contractors, etc. on their projects – both large and smaller scale.  The two years spent at the County gave John a perspective from “the other side of the table” as the person overseeing the review and approval of the plans being submitted in the county.  Instead of using his position in a bureaucratic manner, John took it as an opportunity to educate the public if their designs needed adjustments.  It is his foundation of always doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

Now that you’re through the obligatory background credentials, which is important to know, take a look at John’s portfolio to see what he has accomplished.  From there, reach out and let’s talk about your vision and needs for your next project.  John has the vision, creativity and ability to design your next commercial or residential project – big or small.  John is currently licensed in Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan and Wisconsin but we are not limited to just these states.  Reach out and ask us!

Projects we’d love to speak with you about include (but not limited to) commercial, residential or just providing initial floor plans for you to work with a local architect or engineer on.  The sky is the limit!

Welcome to jGA Design!
